My Favorite TV Shows - I

My Fav show these days is "Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai. It comes on Star One at around 8:30 pm IST on tuesdays.

It's based on a Gujju Family living in a high class society in Mumbai (with only rare traces of Gujju styles!).

Indravadan Sarabhai (Satish Shah) and his wife Maya Sarabhai (Ratna Pathak Shah) stay in a posh mumbai suburb. Maya is a sophisticated Saas who believes in having a high class thinking and behaving. Maya hates middle class attitudes and styles.

Indravadan is a perfect complement for his wife. His thoughts are simple and lives an easy going life. "Indu" as his wife calls him, has only one enemy, "Madhu Fuffa", his bro-in-law.

Sahil Sarabhai ( Sumeet Raghavan) is their elder son and Monisha Sarabhai (Roopali Ganguly) is his wife. Sahil is a doc by profession. They stay in a flat opposite theirs. Monisha is from a middle Class Punjabi family. She is the "Sale Queen". She goes crazy when she reads of a Sale going on in any shop. "aaila Sale" is her fav line!!

Her middle class behavior is the fav topic to have a fight between the saas and bahu..

Roshesh Sarabhai (Rajesh Kumar) is the youngest son. He's Momma's pet and loves to write poetry. He's a wannabe actor. He does small parts in plays. He's ascent is the one that makes him cute.

Maya and Monisha share a good chemistry of a typical saas bahu. Maya trying to adjust with a middle class bahu who isn't the least bit sophisticated like her.

Whenver there is fight, there are 2 parties :
maya and roshesh,
monisha and indu.

Sahil is as usual stuck between taking side with his mom or his wife!

Other Characters:

Madhu fufa : Is indu's bro-in-law. He's deaf and hears only when some speaks loudly. He's always after Indu saying "ehh ?""ehh ?""ehh ?""ehh ?".

Sonya (different actresses) : Maya’s daughter, she is into occult, mainly tarot. She is quite acclaimed for it in the circles that she moves in. Not as snobbish as Maya but still quite uppity.

Dushyant (Deven Bhojani) : Sonya’s husband, he is a joru ka gulam and a gizmo freak. Hes' always on the look out for broken stuff. Whenever he has to explain how something works, he takes Roshesh as the model!!

Each episode has a different story to tell.

The situations are unique and very well written and directed. A must watch :)
