My Favorite TV Show - II

My all time fav show. It's a show about twenty somethings who move towards being thirty somethings. The way they share with each other, the way each one is portrayed is really superb.

Cast:
Jennifer Aniston ............ Rachel Green
Courteney Cox ............... Monica Geller
Matthew Perry ............... Chandler Bing
David Schwimmer ............. Ross Geller
Lisa Kudrow ................. Phoebe Buffay
Matt LeBlanc ................ Joey Tribbiani

Friends Theme Song Lyrics
Title: "I'll Be There for You"
By: "The Rembrandts"

So no one told you life was gonna be this way
Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year
But ... I'll be there for you

When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'cause you're there for me too.

Lovely Snaps :-)

A bit on my opinions about the show:
A lovely show of 6 friends who come together only to be friends forever. They hang out at a place called "Central Perk". All of them gather there most of the time or at Monica's house. It's a place to share and talk with others. It's lovely the way each one expresses.

Monica Geller - A cleaning enthusiast. A Cook by profession. Bakes and bakes and bakes and cleans and cleans and cleans! Shez hyper about cleaning. She keeps her house perfect and has rules about using stuff in her house. A virgo kind of personality.

Ross Geller - A Paleontologist by profession who can just get started with dinosaurs any time! Most joked about thing is his marriage with a woman who turns out to be a lesbian! Has a kid - Ben. Has a crush on Rachelle since school!

Rachelle Green - A Rich gal who runs out on her wedding day! The first meeting of friends is when Rachelle meets Monica in Central Perk. She shows off her ring and on the wedding day she ends up turning to Monica for help. Shez never worked before and tries hard to find a job. She works as an assitant in Central Perk for some days. Then joins a fashion boutique and finally is in Ralph-Lauren. A cutie with a lovely haircut.

Chandler Bing - He hates his surname! Bing! Mr & Mrs. Bing!! The Bings! ( at the time of his marriage to Monica)! Hez a comp professional and works in a data entry company. He shares his room with Joey. Falls for Monica on Ross's wedding day.

Phoebe Buffay - Shez tried out various jobs. Searches for her mother. Is a cute match for Joey. Both don't belong to this world!

Joey Tribbiani - Is a small time actor by profession. Moves into Chandler's apartment after Chandler's psycho roomate is thrown out. Has a crush on Rachelle.

All episodes can re-re-re-re watched. I've watched most of the Seasons on Zee Cafe and Star World. Once the final season gets' over that's the end of the serial. All move away. Rachelle will be moving to Paris. Monica and Chandler will move into a new house. Phoebe is married to Marc. All seperate out.

But all in all a must-watch serial. Highly Recommended for a good dose about friendship :-)

Taxing Taxes

I am tired of paying taxes and more of them each year.

Well, I honestly pay my taxes- income tax, professional tax, service tax, VAT and other taxes payable.

Question : What am I getting in return?
Answer : More taxes!!

I get - no proper electricity, water shortage, bad roads, traffic congestion.
I have to pay more money for petrol, more money paid for anything any person needs.

What do I end up saving ? Nothing !! A BIG ZERO!!

Right now I just read that my under construction flat in pune is going to cost more .. reason ? Hike in service tax for the builder.. which is getting vasooled from me. Naturally. Then there is some WCT - Work Construction Tax being charged..

So I pay taxes, I get proper bills for my purchase..and blah and blah, only to be charged more!!
Honesty pays back..it doenst'.. honesty means you pay more!!

In US, you pay some 30 or 40% of ur salary as taxes and you get more benefits. Over here i pay more than that and what i get is more taxing, scams by politicians.. my hard - earned money is going waste.. why am I here ?
No doubt, we have a huge Brain Drain.. and I now feel it should continue..

Well I am in a foul mood today thanks to more taxing..

Reservations in Private Sector!!

Yesterday, I specifically went to Petition online.

I read and signed the online petition: "Reservation in Private Sector Not Required."

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/RESPVT/

Today morning I got this in Email: -

Note: This is from an email and not written by me. I have just posted it coz it's true and i agree with it.

ET has opened a debate on "Is Premji right to go against job quotas in Wipro ?"

As expected most of the posts agree with him...here is someone who put his pt in a v diff way.. :))

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century.

We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country.. )

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward...
Let's show the world that
INDIA is a GREAT country.

Let's be proud of being an INDIAN..

May the good breed of politicans like ARJUN SINGH long live...

Indian Idol 2 - Total Dumb & Blind Show

I have been following Indian Idol2 since the last few weeks.

Sandeep Acharya has become the Indian Idol. That fellow is no comparision to how Karunya sings.
These shows are not promoting talent but basing on how Indians vote. It's basically how your known people vote for you. Not basing on how good you are!!

Karunya has been performing really good !! The results are really shocking! Good talent is wasted!!!

At such points there should be a judges veto which would be of some use!

It's a sad day!

My Favorite TV Shows - I

My Fav show these days is "Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai. It comes on Star One at around 8:30 pm IST on tuesdays.

It's based on a Gujju Family living in a high class society in Mumbai (with only rare traces of Gujju styles!).

Indravadan Sarabhai (Satish Shah) and his wife Maya Sarabhai (Ratna Pathak Shah) stay in a posh mumbai suburb. Maya is a sophisticated Saas who believes in having a high class thinking and behaving. Maya hates middle class attitudes and styles.

Indravadan is a perfect complement for his wife. His thoughts are simple and lives an easy going life. "Indu" as his wife calls him, has only one enemy, "Madhu Fuffa", his bro-in-law.

Sahil Sarabhai ( Sumeet Raghavan) is their elder son and Monisha Sarabhai (Roopali Ganguly) is his wife. Sahil is a doc by profession. They stay in a flat opposite theirs. Monisha is from a middle Class Punjabi family. She is the "Sale Queen". She goes crazy when she reads of a Sale going on in any shop. "aaila Sale" is her fav line!!

Her middle class behavior is the fav topic to have a fight between the saas and bahu..

Roshesh Sarabhai (Rajesh Kumar) is the youngest son. He's Momma's pet and loves to write poetry. He's a wannabe actor. He does small parts in plays. He's ascent is the one that makes him cute.

Maya and Monisha share a good chemistry of a typical saas bahu. Maya trying to adjust with a middle class bahu who isn't the least bit sophisticated like her.

Whenver there is fight, there are 2 parties :
maya and roshesh,
monisha and indu.

Sahil is as usual stuck between taking side with his mom or his wife!

Other Characters:

Madhu fufa : Is indu's bro-in-law. He's deaf and hears only when some speaks loudly. He's always after Indu saying "ehh ?""ehh ?""ehh ?""ehh ?".

Sonya (different actresses) : Maya’s daughter, she is into occult, mainly tarot. She is quite acclaimed for it in the circles that she moves in. Not as snobbish as Maya but still quite uppity.

Dushyant (Deven Bhojani) : Sonya’s husband, he is a joru ka gulam and a gizmo freak. Hes' always on the look out for broken stuff. Whenever he has to explain how something works, he takes Roshesh as the model!!

Each episode has a different story to tell.

The situations are unique and very well written and directed. A must watch :)

It's over!! Yipee!!

I wanted to spell Yipee like Woppie!! The Roshesh Sarabhai dialogue from Star One comedy Serial "Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai - One of my most loved serials! Roshesh says this in a special way which makes it cute.

Coming to the main point of this entry. The presentation i was supposed to "voluntarily" give is over!! Finally! Phew!! What a relaxation. If you read my 7 tags, presentation is one of the most hated thing for me!

Since last 2 weeks i've been trying to give it.
First attempt - There was no room available! People were in a hurry to book rooms, I guess to save people attending my presentation from the trauma :d

Second attempt - Was supposed to be last thursday. But Rajkumar expired and whole bangalore was in Curfew. What a way to stop my presentation i wonder! Me thinks people thought it would be killer one :D

Third attempt - Just mailed my boss in the afternoon about having the presentation today evening! And lo, in just hours it's over! It was short one.. not sure about the sweet part though. But people were happy it was small :D (Me also, me also!)

Well I am relaxed for a few days before the next topic comes by.... Ciao..:)

Bangalore Burns

12th April 2006
We were at our new campus on Mysore Road when the news of Rajkumar's death spread.
It happened jus 15mins after we left office at 1:30 pm.

Everyone was contemplating what would happen next. The same way when he was kidnapped by Veerapan, his fans had burnt bangalore. History repeated once again and i guess this time on a large scale.

On our return journey from Mysore road to Bannerghatta road, we could see black smoke coming out from a far distance. We couldnt' guess what had happened. People were burning tyres all along the way, the police was trying to control them, the autowallahs were on a high (asking for more than double or a round figure i guess), Rajkumar's portraits were making hte rounds of the roads with garlands and people shouting slogans.

There was not a single shop open on the whole route. People were asked to head home and thursday was declared a holiday. There were overcrowded buses all the way. Lot of people asking for lifts , searching for a way home, walking the way home!

Since all shops closed down (more due to the violence and less due to mourning), people who eat out regularly at nearby restaurants or darshini's were stranded. I could see a few ten of them but there would lakhs more stranded and without food! They had money to buy food, but there was no one to give food!!
it was the most pathetic situation :-( I wonder what happened to the people stuck in an emergency !! God save them.

Petrol pumps were closed. Along the 20km route i could not see even a pharmacy open!!

It was the worst situation i've seen in bangalore since the last 2 and 1/2 years.

Bangalore the garden city was brought down to a standstill in a matter of minutes!!!

13th April 2006
It was silence on the roads. Govt Buses BMTC were closed. Autos were travelling to smaller distances and were very scanty. Dial a taxi was not working till 5 pm
Cable had cut off channels other than those showing Rajkumar movies. So we were stuck with kannada and news channels.

All News channels were saying that Bangalore was shut down to mourn the death of Rajkumar. But it was quite the contrary. The shops and traffic was shut due to the so called "fans" of Rajkumar.

On ushe tv they were showing, the fans praying their homage to the late actor. Outside, Bangalore burnt. Buses, cars, 2 wheelers were being burnt. "Fans" hit police and later police gave back!! This continued.

We cooked some food for us and got our friends over also.

Till the end of the day it was a day of marathi plays for us.

Finally it was the death of a Police and 4 other people that shocked us. We did have our 1 min of silence for these people.

14th April 2006
Shops have opened. Buses have started. Autos are back. and so is the noise. After yesterday's calm, the storm is back.
Bangalore has started to stand back on its' feet. But like me, there will be a scare till things settle down fully.

_________________________________________

I am yet to come to terms as to why all this happened.
Can the goverment be blamed for all this ? Should any one be blamed ?

Bangalore is one the most hi-tech cities in India. But the crowd didnt' seem to be the one who were fans. They were people who had anger in them. this way was just to let it out. Get our all the frustrations against others. But was this the right time? Who suffered ? The friends and families of these same people must have undergone the misery. But still it wasn't lessened. There was more violence after the first day.

D says " It was the government's mistake. Even after 12hours, there was no control on the situation."
I think it's right. "Situation in control" in a News comment by our CM, equals to "Situation in whose control??" by the conman.

Hope things improve faster than the shutdown. :D

A Dog ?

Our manager is getting married in april. So the team was discussing what we can give as a gift. Dinner sets, microwaves, house interiors etc was discussed. one of the leads R suggested let's get a dog.
They are going to stay alone in a house so let's get them a dog for company! I would have killed the person who would have got me such a thing!

I feel that such gifts should be for both people.

That was one of the most funny thoughts that i have heard today. I dont' know how many would like this thought. I know the thought is unique but just imagine going to the marriage hall with a dog!

To add further to this, another colleague A suggested giving a cat to his wife!! I wonder who's getting married :D

Meri team adhi pagal thi, aaj confirm hua ki puri paagal hai :))))

So we have now decided in common opinion that for R we get a dog as a wedding gift and a cat for A. :D

As of now I think we are going with the microwave...

Yada Kadachit - Marathi Play

Last weekend we spent time watching some Marathi Plays.

We specially watched "Yada Kadachit" - A mast malvani play!!
I would recommend it to be a must watch for any Marathi Natak Lover!

The whole language is Malvani where they dont' pronounce words with a "" => the infinity alphabet. All instances of this aplhabet become "".

All the dialogues are cool with teasers on the Mah govt and others.

This play has the Mahabharat scenes and interferences from characters from Ramayan.
For more details refer to
this link - the synopsis of the play.

My fav line:
"
(गर गर, गर गर, गरा!! बोला कोन फोडणार माशाचा डोला !!" (gar gar, gar gar, gara, bola kon fodnar mashya cha dola)
- Scene of draupadi swayamvar. This mod draupadi is having the "goldfish soap" in her hand and saying the line.

"D"

This not the D from D gang or any one else.

This is my very own D stands for Digambar.

He is the only VVVVVIP person in my life. My "bestest" friend-philosopher-guide. And a lot more.

I just started thinking about him when i was writing my thoughts about my appraisal. why i wanted a promotion and what is the figure i want to see in it. I think too much.

But D's not like this. He's happy and content with what he's receiving. He smiles when he's tense. Does'nt show. Doesn't think much. Sometimes i need to frown and show some fury to make him understand things. But after few days he's back to normal.

I dont 'want him to lose any of his qualities. That's what keeps us together.
My anger, his calmness.
My praticality, his no-care attitude.
My fast racing thoughts, his no much thinking.
My promptness, his easy-going ness
My right-now attitude, his later-on.

In true sense we complement each other a bit too much.
May be we see things differently but we find things which we lack in the other.

I just want to say thanks to D for being there for me in all situations forever.
